The Water Works Conservancy is dedicated to recreating the Hackensack River habitat on the industrialized Van Buskirk Island and preserving the historic integrity of the Hackensack Water Company buildings and the steam pumping equipment inside for future generations. The Conservancy hopes to establish a self-sustaining Environmental Park, a Science and Technology Museum, a Hackensack River Research Center, and an Education Center with a Cultural Wing.
